About True North Birth
True North Birth began as a seed in 2020, before I became pregnant with my oldest son. Pre-conception was an Olympic sport to me, and I was determined to give my baby the best possible shot. Even after taking childbirth education courses and carefully assembling a care team, I still felt so much was missing. My wheels were constantly turning, and after leaving prenatal appointments disappointed I didn’t receive more guidance, I’d come home and do deep dives into every resource I could get my eyes on.
After both a medicated hospital birth and a redemptive home birth, I’ve organized all the resources and wisdom I’ve gained along the way and became a Certified Childbirth Educator and birth doula to serve those seeking their True North.
About Victoria Tice
I was born and raised in metro-Detroit and have the gumption to show for it. I’m a first-generation college graduate, and I’ve been a professional writer for a decade. I savor outside time, audiobooks, listening to my granny’s stories, and reading to my children.
I’m married to an engineer who is my personal cheerleader and voice of reason. We live in North Alabama with our two, beautiful boys.
I find joy in experiencing simple things through the eyes of my sons and creating a life for them that heals my inner child. Being in community with fellow strong-willed women fills my cup.

Whether you’re planning a homebirth, hospital induction, an unmedicated birth center birth, a scheduled c-section, or any birth in-between, I’m here to support the options that make you feel safe, loved, and heard.

My job as a preconception, pregnancy, and birth educator is to help you prepare for the choices you’ll make throughout your journey by sharing evidence-based research, clinical practice norms, and anecdotal experiences. My “Birth Plan” and Childbirth Education packages are an affordable way for you to feel prepared in all the decisions you’ll make at prenatal appointments and the planning of your birth.
As a doula, I provide the same coaching support during pregnancy AND am present, virtually or in-person, for your birth to guide you and your partner through comfort measures and provide emotional support.
They are both considered non-medical roles on your care team.

I highly recommend doulas, especially for those giving birth for the first time. Research has shown that having a doula present for continuous support can reduce your chance of c-section by up to 60% (!!!).
I recognize that sometimes doulas are not in the budget, in which case, my education services will prepare you with a birth plan you can feel confident in.

I always recommend taking a childbirth or comfort measures class through your doula, childbirth educator, or provider. I offer an affordable childbirth education course catered to your specific needs.

While there are many ways birth can unfold that are outside of our control, there are so many things that are in our control, and that’s what a birth plan is for. Putting our wishes to paper so we can be fully present for birth is priceless and integral to a beautiful experience.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing from Oakland University and a master’s degree in English rhetoric and composition from Auburn University.
I’m an RYT-200 (Yoga Alliance) and I’m Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED certified by the American Red Cross. I’m also a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certified Advanced Provider (9th Edition).I’m a Certified Childbirth Educator through Birth Arts International, a student of Stillbirthday, a member of the Alabama Doula Alliance, and a member of Evidence Based Birth for Professionals.
I seek daily to understand and remain informed of the ever-evolving landscape of birth, birth systems, and birth research at local, state, national, and international levels.
I keep all of my certifications up-to-date with continued education.
